Remodeling Stress Affects Your Dog
There is a great deal of excitement that surrounds every remodeling project. It also creates a lot of activity from buying new products to the actual installation of everything. Small projects can come and go in days, whereas large once can take weeks. But, all of this excitement and remodeling stress affects your dog.
Daily Routines Disrupted
With all the planning that goes into your projects the one item often over looked is your pets. Dogs in particular seem to be the most disrupted because of their nature in wanting to be with their owners who in their mind are now for some reason not as available. Additionally, they are creatures of habit and routine. But during a remodel their daily routines are majorly disrupted.

The water and food bowls are moved to a new space so they are out of the way of construction activity. Their favorite pet beds are relocated to a new room away from the dirt and debris. The dog toys are put away to avoid getting them dirty. And without a doubt the most disruptive change is that their daily walks and bathroom breaks are delayed or forgotten (oops). So just like every remodel a little planning goes a long way to reduce the remodeling stress that affects your dog.
Plan B for the Potty Breaks
Of course, every intention is to keep the dogs routine as regular as possible. But it is always good to have a plan B. In this case, what I am referring to is their potty break.
Changes in routine cause stress for your pet because furniture has been moved, your schedule has changed and there are lots of unfamiliar smells. Not to mention there may be several new people coming and going. Consequently, some dogs when in stressful situations may need to urinate more frequently. But since you are more distracted than usual with your project you may not notice in time. Or even worse your super obedient dog may hold on to the point of being uncomfortable.
Your Alternative – An Indoor Lawn
Did you know that a house trained dog urinating indoors causes stress? Your poor pooch can’t win. So you need to have a plan B when going outside just isn’t as on-schedule as before. Therefore, as a possible solution and plan B I have recommended to those dog loving remodeling enthusiasts and home owners that I speak to the use of Doggie Lawn. Mainly because it really helps reduce the remodeling stress that affects your dog.
Doggie Lawn is hydroponically grown real grass that comes in its own plastic mat so it can be placed anywhere to assist your family pooch – on the patio, porch, balcony, or in a corner. A perfect solution for small dogs under 15 pounds, but also for larger dogs as well. It is a fresh, clean and sanitary alternative that helps reduce your pets stress because it gives them a place to relieve themselves that won’t get them in trouble. Further this item receives Mia’s, my remodel buddy, stamp of approval.
