8 Kitchen Cabinet Convenience Items
Most cabinets are just empty boxes that lack interest and real function. Bring your cabinetry into the current century with a few kitchen cabinet convenience items that will make your kitchen so much more enjoyable to be in. I’m sure You’ve heard the old saying, ‘A Place for Everything, and Everything in its Place’ so I’ve taken the time to select a few of my favorites for you.
Pullout Trash Can
Please put the garbage basket out of sight. All too many kitchens have the garbage can sitting at the end of the counter or parked next to refrigerator. Ughhh! Why try something easy then, with a simple attachment to the door and a floor mounted track you can install a pull-out trash container system into your existing cabinets (or as part of your new cabinets).
There are several versions of pull-out trash containers but the one I like the most is the one that pulls out mounted to the door. It also has an open wire frame interior making it easy to clean. I prefer soft-close since my other cabinets are soft-close.
Other versions come with single bins or multiple bins for more uses. Different than my wire frame selection others come with wood frame holders. Some will mount in the middle of the cabinet rather than on the floor and pullout while others will pullout but are not attached to the door (open door, then pull out). Lots of great options. This is one of my favorite kitchen cabinet convenience items.
Appliance Lift
If you like to bake then this appliance lift is for you. It provides for permanent storage for the mixer, it rests on a butcher block top. The mechanism allows it to slowly fold down and into the cabinet to stow away while the appliance is still on it. When needed it gently lifts up out of the cabinet and locks into place. This heavy duty version from RTA Store holds up to 60lbs.
Notice in the picture above that there is still room available on the bottom shelf for a little more storage. Always check your dimensions, not all cabinets are the the same size.

Coffee Stations & Bar Areas
In the last few years I have done more coffee stations, wine bars, and bar areas than ever before. These sleek wine slings are less bulky than the typical wood wine storage cubbies and mount easily to the underside of your cabinet. The glass holders are good for stemware, wine or martini glasses for example. They mount to the underside of the cabinet as well. Purchase them individually or in groups.
A must have for the avid coffee drinker, a k-cup insert. Ok, I know you can just toss them in the drawer. But, if you are a neat freak and organizational nut like me, this is just plain cool. For the ultimate in convenience the pods are organized and labels up. There is room for teas, sweeteners and even the individual coffee creamers, vanilla is my favorite. So if you want in-drawer storage near your coffee brewer then this little gem should be on your must have list kitchen cabinet convenience items.
Sink Cabinet Convenience Items
Under the sink, yuck. Why think about it? It is just a place to stuff the cleaning products. Well, with a couple of items it can be more functional and even protected from damage.
The first item is a sponge caddy which gets attached either to the backside of the false panel on the sink base cabinet (you’ll need special tilt-out hinges) or attached to the back of the door. After you’re done cleaning and the sponge has been wrung out you can put it in this plastic tray for storage; now its out of the way and off the counter top.
The door caddy, middle picture above, adds more convenient storage space for your everyday cleaning products. Just swing the door open, grab and go. It conveniently eliminates the several rows deep of spray bottles tucked in and around the garbage disposal. Notice the little sponge tray on top.
The third item in the pictures is one of my favorites, a polymer tray that fits on the floor of the sink base cabinet. Because it catches what drips or spills, it keeps the liquids off the cabinet floor and protects it from deterioration and mold. Even those small drips from a leaking p-trap or garbage disposal will now be kept away from the cabinet. Plus, because they are not soaking in, you’ll be able to notice the moisture and fix the problem.
